CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP
- Life Member: A physician formally trained in pathology and holds a recognized post-graduate degree (MD/ DNB) in Pathology and who has demonstrated interest and has contributed to the field of bone and soft tissue pathology. This group of members should pay prescribed one-time life membership fee.
- Ordinary Member: A physician formally trained in pathology and holds a recognized post-graduate degree (MD/ DNB) in Pathology and who has demonstrated interest and has contributed to the field of bone and soft tissue pathology. This group of members should pay prescribed ordinary membership fee annually to renew their membership. These members can vote but shall not hold office.They can apply for Life Membership of the Association by paying a prescribed life membership fee.
- Associate Member: Any physician or scientist who does not qualify as a regular member (Life member/ Ordinary Member) but who has demonstrated special interest in the field of bone and soft tissue pathology, as evidenced by significant contributions. Others, as found suitable from time to time, will be considered by the executive committee on a case-to-case basis. These members can apply for membership after paying the prescribed membership fee. They shall not vote or hold office.
- Junior/ In-training Member: Any Post-graduate student undergoing training in Pathology who has interest in bone and soft tissue pathology. These members can apply for membership after paying the prescribed membership fee. They shall not vote or hold office. They can apply afresh for full membership (Ordinary/ Life Membership) of the Association on successful completion of their postgraduate program.
- Honorary Member: Persons who have made distinguished or extraordinary contributions to the field of bone and soft tissue pathology. These members shall be nominated by Executive Committee. At any given time the number Honorary Members shall not exceed FIVE (5). These members shall not vote or hold office.
- Overseas Member: A physician who is not a resident of India or currently not practicing India can be Overseas Member of the Organization provide he/ she has had formal training in pathology, holds a recognized post-graduate degree (MD/ DNB) or equivalent in Pathology and who has demonstrated interest/ contributed to the field of bone and soft tissue pathology. These members can vote but shall not hold office.
ADMISSION FOR MEMBERSHIP AND PROCEDURE FOR ENROLLMENT
- Application for Membership:
Eligible individuals belonging to the categories listed above and desiring to be enroll himself/ herself shall apply to the Secretary in the prescribed form along with copies requisite document and letters of support by at least two of the Founder members / Life members of the Association. All applications for membership shall be initially scrutinized by Secretary/ Joint Secretary, the President/ Vice President & Treasurer. The Committee shall evaluate the bio-data, training, publications, research and other evidence of interest in the field. The report of the office bearers will be placed before the Executive Committee for approval. Membership commences when names are approved at an Executive Committee Meeting and ratified by the General Body by majority of the members present. Eligibility for contesting in the elections start however, only 1 year after the membership commences.
- Privileges of Membership:
Members of the Association shall have the privilege to attend and take part in all general meetings, conferences, lectures, discussions and demonstrations. They shall receive copies of all proceedings and publications of the Association from the date of their membership and to attend special activities at such terms that the Executive Committee may fix from time to time. They shall also regularly receive a copy of the proposed official journal of ABSTP once started and will be able to access the Association website.

* The prescribed fee structure is subject to change as decided by the General Body of ABSTP from time to time.
- The membership fee for annual members shall become due from 1st April every year. Non-receipt of the membership fee by 31st May by the Association shall deprive the member of the privileges of his/her membership as laid down under Rule.
- If the membership fee of the year is not received by 31st May by the Association of the following year, his/her name will be stuck off. The Secretary shall send notice to the members in the month of March intimating them that their membership fee is due from 1st April. The members, whose membership fee is not received by the Headquarters before 31st May, will not be eligible to vote in the election of national or chapter office bearers of the Association.
- A member enrolled any time during the year shall pay full membership fee from the date of the enrollment.
- The amount of membership fee received during the year should be treated as Corpus Fund and kept in the bank, as FDR / fixed securities (like RBI bonds) and the interest earned on these FDRs can be utilized for running the Association.
- All members attending the Annual General Body meeting of the Association shall have paid the membership and dues. The proof of payment in the shape of either receipt or a certificate by the Association shall be sufficient.
- The responsibility of collection of subscription of members of the Association rests with the Secretary/Jt.Secretary in consultation with the Treasurer of the Association. The proof of payment will be in form of either receipt or a certificate by the Association
